"I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.” –Psalm 104:33 (KJV)
“Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.” –Psalm 105:2 (KJV)
The primary purpose of the Virginia Beach Seventh-day Adventist Church (VBSDA) music ministry is to lift up our Lord, Jesus Christ, in songs through voice, instruments, and visual aid. For each church service, the VBSDA music ministry strives to plan in advance with every music ministry participant to present songs to prepare the congregation's hearts for the preaching of the Word of God.
VBSDA music ministry also supports special programs within the church and local ministries such as our local school, Tidewater Adventist Academy, as well as other local church services and programs. The church’s music ministry strives to plan and be involved in special programs which lift up the Lord.
VBSDA music ministry currently sponsors two organized groups, the iLight Orchestra and the iLight Youth Choir. The iLight Orchestra is comprised of instrumentalists who are experienced performers as well as instrumentalists in training. Currently, the iLight Orchestra plays for church service about once a month. The iLight Youth Choir is comprised of youth from 12 years and older. The group utilizes accompaniment tracks and a cappella songs for practices and performances and aims to perform for the church service at least once every two months.
VBSDA music ministry desires the worship service to bring individuals closer to Christ by presenting music in a personal way.
